Beautiful Bride: Rebecca the Wedding Planner Gets Married

Once in a while, wedding professionals get to “cross the road” and be the client.  Case in point: Rebecca Richman (née Druckenmiller).  Rebecca is a top notch wedding planner for the Queen of Hearts Wedding Consultants team and married her man Dan last March.

Rebecca could not have been more at ease (expected, considering, but you never know…!) as she was getting ready.  Because she’s beautiful to begin with, we kept the make-up soft to accessorize her incredible blue eyes and porcelain skin.

Of course, I was thrilled that Rebecca chose me to do her make-up, and even more thrilled that photographer Laura Eaton captured it all on film.

Style Me Easter by Marie Labbancz for Beautiful Blooms

Happy to say that I did my first photo shoot at the Fairmount Park Horticulture Center the amazing photographer Marie Labbancz, and it wasn’t long before the lovely Easter-inspired photos were featured on Style Me Pretty.  Styling and floral by Maya and team from Beautiful Blooms and very chic hair by Claudia Seyler.  Adorable cake courtesy of Whipped Bakeshop.  Pretty paper by Loveleigh Invitiations.

We also did beauty shots for our delicately gorgeous models, Stephanie and Jamie and the results speak for themselves.  Truth be told, it was rather chilly that afternoon and both women were troopers.

You can see the full spread on Style Me Pretty….

Styled Creative: very cool, very pretty

I’m fairly mad for these photos of Beka Rendell and Kimberly Fink, taken by Mike Smith of Ash Imagery. Beka and Kim, formerly known as Innove Events, recently introduced their updated name/site, along with a new space on Arch Street in Old City. These talented creatures are way too cute together, yes?
Visit them at www.styledcreative.com.

Let me tell you, aside from being remarkably photogenic, that Beka can wear some lashes, and it was particularly fun to do dramatic, deep blue/black eyes on Kimberly, who is usually so fresh-faced and adorable.

Megan Kristel and I just got “Ashed” as well. Mike put up with our irreverent banter long enough to get a photo for our upcoming press release in relation to the opening of our new studio in Ardmore on September 23rd. Go here for more info and to RSVP.

Best of the Main Line

I moved to the Main Line in Fall 2006, and four years later, I feel fortunate to have earned the trust of my brides, as well as that of some of the outstanding wedding professionals (photographers, planners) in the Philadelphia area. So I am particularly honored to have been named “Best Make-up Artist for Brides 2010″ by the editors of Main Line Today Magazine.

Clean and Green: Harmony Cleaners

I love it when one of my jobs has an eco-conscious angle, and this feature in Bucks Life Magazine (July/August 2009) is no exception.  Sisters Debi Sarandrea and Vicki Brown founded Harmony Clean in 2003 and the products they use in their home cleaning services are non-toxic and safer for inhabitants and the environment.

I had a lot of fun doing make-up for these two eco-entrepreneurs.  You can visit their website at www.harmonyclean.com.

Hush Salon in Old City featured in October issue of Allure

I’ve had my hair cut by some real masters in NYC, including stylists at Bumble and Bumble and Oribe. Admittedly, I’ve been a two-cut-per-year kind of girl, but as old age creeps in, and along with it, the wiry, wily, evil grays (hmm–good name for a band), the mop needs a bit more maintenance.  Not only do I shun blowing, ironing, spraying or moussing, but my idea of a hair style is whatever I wake up with, so a great cut is critical. (I always laugh when people ask me if I do hair – I point to my head and say “does it look like I do hair??”)

That said, I’m happy to report that my current and only stylist is Carlos Rogers, who, along with his wife Adrienne, owns Hush Salon on 3rd Street in Old City, was named the “Best of the Best” for a Philly haircut in this month’s issue of Allure.  These sorts of honorable mentions are often so political, and go to the same old names, that is, service providers who either spend a lot on advertising or on their PR person, so it’s refreshing to see the distinction go to someone who’s earned it through sheer talent.

Unfortunately, for the many brides who are looking for someone brilliant to do their hair on their wedding day, Hush doesn’t do “do’s.”  I joked with Carlos that last time I saw him about getting on the show “Split Ends” (on the Style network), asking him what it would be like if he ended up in a salon in Texas where updoes aren’t just for special events and pageants, but a way of life.  He said, matter-of-factly, “I’d be in trouble.”   The reality is that the skills are there, but it’s not the direction of the salon to provide bridal services….and that’s okay.  As an ex-New Yorker, I appreciate the simplicity of their “beauty without the noise” philosophy.

No need to take my word about what a find Hush Salon is – there are 22 and counting five-star reviews on Citysearch that wax poetic about the talents of Carlos, colorist Adrienne, and stylists Ruth and Pam.  Appointments can be made by calling (215) 923-5010.
